Abstract
710,219. Drawing. KREIDLER, A. May 28, 1952 [June 5, 1951], No. 13495/52. Class 83 (4) A drawing process for the production of accurately profiled bars, pipes or the like is characterized in that the work is subjected to an alternating bending action during reduction. The drawing die 1 is mounted on a holder 2 by bolts 3 and a guide nozzle holder 6 is mounted in a support 5 bolted to the die holder 2. The nozzle holder 6 is formed with a driving pulley 7 and is rotated by a belt drive from an electric motor or from the drawbench drive. In one embodiment a guide nozzle 8, Fig. 2, is displaceable transversely to the drawing axis in a straight guide 6<SP>1</SP> in the nozzle holder 6. The displacement and fixing of the nozzle is effected by set screws 9 and an insert 10 having an aperture corresponding to the cross section of the work 11 I is housed so as to be freely rotatable in the nozzle 8. In operation the work 11 is pushed through the insert 10 and its point through the die 1 the point being seized by tongs (not shown). The guide nozzle 8 is laterally displaced by the set screws 9 so that during the drawing, when the nozzle holder 6 is rotated, the point M, Fig. 1, describes a circular motion around the drawing axis and the work is subjected to a periodic alternating deflection in the die area X. In another embodiment the guide nozzle 8 is pivotally mounted in its holder 6 by bearing bolts 12 and is angularly adjusted by set screws 13, Fig. 4, to enable the rotation of the nozzle holder 6 to impart an alternating bending action to the work during the drawing operation. The diameter of tubes may be reduced by this method without the use of a mandrel.
