Abstract
709,620. Absorbent, chromatographic paper. ZELLSTOFF-FABRIK WALDHOF. Dec. 23. 1952 [Dec. 24, 1951; Nov. 24, 1952], No. 32587/52. Class 96 Paper suitable for chromatographic analysis is made by adding oxycellulose, e.g. as powder or as fibres or in solution to pulp or to absorbent paper, or by partial oxidation of a fleece filter paper. Precipitation of dissolved oxycellulose may be effected by an acid, e.g. sulphur dioxide water or by aluminium sulphate &c. or by salts of calcium, strontium, barium, zinc, or magnesium, or by dilution with distilled water. The carboxyl group content may be up to 16 per cent., and the oxidizing agent may be nitrogen peroxide, nitric oxide, or periodic acid.
