Class 80 (1) A guiding roller 4 for ropes, bands and belts has a groove 3 of hyperboloidal form so that when disposed with its axis oblique to the ropes or edge of the belt or band 12 contact therewith is along a rectilinear generatrix 1. One side of the roller may be of smaller diameter than the other and a certain amount of axial movement of the roller may be provided for.
