709,243. Mine roof supporting bars. DIRECTIE VAN DE STAATSMIJNEN IN LIMBURG. March 6, 1952 [March 7, 1951], No. 5908/52. Class 20 (2) One mine roof bar 6, Fig. 1, is supported as a cantilever from a propped bar 2 by means of a bar shoe 8 suspended on the bar 2, the bars 2, 6 being coupled by a short link 3 pivotally connected to each bar so as to ensure that bar 6 contacts the roof as close as possible to the point of connection. The link 3 has pins 4, 7, Fig. 2, which engage in holes 5 in the adjacent ends of the bars 2, 6 or alternatively the link 3 may have holes engaged by pins on the bars. The bar shoe may be constructed as described in Specification 709,241.
