Abstract

759,610. Mine roof support bars. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS), Ltd. Aug. 13, 1954 [Aug. 13, 1953], No. 22338/53. Class 20(2). Mine roof bars are connected by a wedge 28 passed through coinciding holes and abut by means of one or more convex surfaces 15 which is a, part of a right-cylinder engaging a complementary concave surface on a part 20. There may be a central convex surface 16 between two convex surfaces 17. The wedge 28 is curved about a centre in an axis X on which is the centre of the convex surfaces 16, 17. An aperture 26, Fig. 4, in one of a number of transverse webs 14 accommodates the wedge when not in use. The flanges 10 of the bar are thickened where they rest on a prop. The convex surfaces may be toroidal.
