[Also in Group XXXIII] A roof light covering a circular aperture in the roof 3, Fig. 1, of a building or vehicle, comprises an annular support 6 secured to an annular web 1 surrounding the aperture, the member 6 supporting a shallow dome 13 of plastic or other transparent material and having openings 10 through which condensed water may flow to the roof. The support 6, which has the dome 13 secured to a downwardly directed flange 15 by bolts 14, has a part 11 formed with ventilating apertures 12 sloping downwardly towards an integral trough 9 wherein the openings 10 are formed. An annular drip member 5 and an inner flange 8 of support 6 are bolted at 7 to a flange 4 of the curb 1. To regulate the ventilation through apertures 12 a closure member 16 is provided having an apertured part 17 which is similar to the part 11, the member 16 being movable from open to closed position on three rollers 19 each of which is rotatably mounted on a spindle 20 carried by a frame 21 secured to the flange 22 of support 6. The rollers 19 run on inclined tracks 23 formed in the trough 9 so that in the closed position the part 17 closely overlies the part 11 whereas in the open position the parts are spaced from one another. Three further rollers are also provided each of which 24, Fig. 2, rotates on a spindle 25 carried in a frame 26 secured to flange 22 of support 16, a plate 26a pivotally mounted on the flange 8 being spring urged to press the closure member 16 downwardly. The closure member is moved between open and closed positions by links and a lever fixed to a pulley, the latter being operated from a distance by means of Bowden cables. The curb 1, drip member 5, support 6 and closure member 16 may be formed of sheet metal, plastics or asbestos cement and may be reinforced at their edges by wires 33 embedded therein. An asphalt or mastic weatherproofing coating 3a is provided on the curb 1 and roof 3. In a modification the curb is formed as part of the roof, the members 5, 6 being bolted directly thereto. According to the Provisional Specification glazing bars may be used to obtain particular aesthetic effects.
