708,855. Bucket chain excavators. LUDOWICI, J. W. Nov. 26, 1951 [Dec. 15, 1950], No. 27679/51. Class 68(1) In a bucket chain excavator the chain runs over three or more guide drums 1, 2 and 3 situated at the apices of a prism-shaped framework which is supported on, and can be rotated about, a drum 8, extending parallel to the axes of the guide drums 1, 2, 3, so that different portions of the periphery of the framework are presented to the excavation. The soil is delivered from the buckets at the uppermost apex of the frame, into a fixed or adjustable guide shoot 6, 7, adjacent the drum 1, thence through a slot 9 in the drum 8 to a conveyer 10, and finally by a second conveyer 11 clear of the excavation. The drum 8 is supported from a self propelled vehicle 18 by linkage 20-23. Shoots 13, 14 and 16, 17 are also provided adjacent the guide drums 2, 3.
