Abstract

708,287. Electric clocks. MARUWA SEIKI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. July 25; 1951. No. 17684/51. Class 139 An automatic resetting device for use, in conjunction with a standard time signal, such as a broadcast standard time signal, in an electric clock which has a slight gaining rate, the said clock being of the type in which the toruqe of an electric motor is directly employed as motive power, is characterized in that a signal contact and a self-breaking contact are provided in parallel in the electric motor circuit, the said signal contact being opened during ,the period when the standard time signal is incoming, and the self-breaking contact being opened when the time indication of the said clock reaches the position which indicates any zero minute, zero second. The circuit of the driving motor 1 includes a selfbreaking contact 4 in parallel with a signal contact 5. The contact 5 is controlled by a relay 8 which, when a contact 9 is closed, is energized when a receiver 10 receives a standard time signal. The contact 9 is automatically closed for a definite period every hour. During the said period the contact 5 is opened by energization of the relay 8 upon reception of a time signal. The motor 1 continues to rotate until the seconds and minutes hands (not shown), are at zero whereupon the contact 4 is opened and the motor 1 stops. At the .end of the standard time signal, exactly on the hour, the relay 8 is deenergized and the contact 5 is closed so that the motor 1 restarts.
