Abstract
708,201. Injection-moulding machines. LESTER ENGINEERING CO. Jan. 24, 1952 [April 10, 1951], No. 2034/52. Class 87 (2) The spreader 6 has two or more (as shown, two) peculiarly-shaped channels 12 through which the material passes on its way to the nozzle. Figs. 2 and 3 are sections on lines 2-2 and 3-3 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 shows the shape of the body of moulding material in the injection cylinder. Each channel 12 is a continuation of the annular space 17 between the spreader and the cylinder and is bounded at the top and bottom by cylindrical walls 14, 15 and at the sides by walls 16 which converge circumferentially (see Fig. 2) towards two apertures 18. From the apertures 18 the material emerges as two rods 45 which pass along channels 29 and coalesce in the nozzle chamber 35. The spreader has an integral collar 9 which is clamped by bolts 27 between the nozzle 26 and the cylinder 2. An electric heater 20 and a thermocouple 21 are accommodated within the spreader. Heating elements 37 ... 41 and an insulating jacket 42 are provided.
