Abstract

865,403. Injection-moulding machines. CLARK Ltd., C. & J. Jan. 15, 1960 [Oct. 15, 1958], No. 32883/58. Class 87(2). Injection moulding apparatus comprises a rotatable distributer located between an injection nozzle and a mould assembly and adapted to maintain at least one inlet port thereof aligned with said nozzle but movable to successively position at least one delivery port or connected to the inlet port by an indirect feed passage in alignment with one of a plurality of feeding gates associated with mould cavities. A rotatable distributer 2 having a passage 2A therethrough inclined to longitudinal axis X-Y is journalled for movement along said axis in a fixed plate 1 and a multi-cavity mould assembly 3 is forced into face contact with it by means of a movable platen 4 and hydraulic ram 6. Inlet end 2B of passage 2A is contacted by nozzle 7 on the injection stroke: outlet end 2C is offset from axis X-Y a distance equal to the radius of the circle on which the feeding gates 3A of the mould cavities lie, and is indexed in relation to one such gate between the injection strokes. The distributer is heated by a coil 8. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 (not shown), the injection nozzle is not axially displaceable and the distributer is provided with two or more passages having a common inlet.
