Abstract

707,759. Clocks and watches. JUNGHANS AKT.-GES. GEB. July 24, 1951, No. 17560/51. Class 139 A stop-watch or clock for measuring time in fractions of a second is characterized in that a column wheel has associated with it a member which impulses the balance for starting the watch, which arrests it for stopping the watch and which impulses the balance again in order to zeroize the watch, and a further member which, during the zeroing operation, stops the hand indicating fractions of a second upon it reaching the zero position. The column wheel 20a, Fig. 1, is stepped on by a push-button 35 and controls three levers 15, 22 and 39. The lever 15 is normally positioned so that a projection 15b thereof abuts a finger 14 carried by a shaft 11 so that a hand indicating hundredths of a second and also fixed to the shaft 11 is in its zero position. The lever 22 is positioned so that a spring finger 25, 25a carried thereby is away from the balance 27. Upon depression of the button 35 the column wheel 20a is stepped on whereupon the lever 15 is rocked so that its projection 15b leaves the finger 14 and the lever 22 is moved against the pressure of a spring 24 until the spring finger 25 occupies the position 34. In moving, the spring finger impulses the balance 27 to start the watch. Upon another depression of the button 35 the column wheel is stepped on again whereupon the lever 22 is moved by the spring 24 until the finger 25 arrests the balance 27. Upon a third depression of the button 35 the lever 22 is freed to be pulled back to its initial position and in moving again impulses the balance. At the same time the lever 15 is moved back into the path of the finger 14 so that the hand on the shaft 11 is arrested in its zero position. The lever 39 co-operates with heart-shaped cams 41, 42 to zeroize the seconds and minutes hands in the usual way.
