Abstract

707,691. Milling-cutters. STEEL & CUTTING METAL IMPORT TRADING CO. (STAHAG). April 4, 1952 [May 25, 1951], No. 8669/52. Class 83 (3) A facing head compirses at least one cylindrically-shaped cutter 5 of hard metal secured detachably in the head 1 so that its front and back faces have radial rake and preferably axial rake also. Each cutter is mounted rotatably on a spigot 4 carried by a support 3 of substantially semi-circular cross-section which is received in a tapered bore 2 of circular cross-section. The cutter, which may be rotated on the spigot 4 to bring different parts of its edge into the cutting position or reversed thereon to use its other cutting edge, is clamped against the support 3 by a wedge member 7 of substantially semicircular cross-section. A screw 6 secures the support 3 in the bore 2. A threaded shank 8 on the wedge member 7 passes through a slot 10 in the head to permit angular adjustment of the cutter, its support, and the wedge.
