707,301. Crop dusters. PEST CONTROL, Ltd. March 26, 1952 [March 27, 1951], No. 7091/51. Class 6 (1). [Also in Group XXIX] A liquid or powder spraying machine of the type in which at least one spray nozzle boom projects outwards from a side of the machine, includes windshields hinged about the boom so that they can be swung upwards from a position in which they screen the nozzles from wind effects. In Fig. 1a a boom 4 supports a spray bar 3 having nozzles 2, and hinges 10 and 11, Fig. 2, support two main windshields 8, 9 extending along the boom. The windshields may be of metal sheeting secured to frames 13, and in their operative position are arranged at 45 degrees to the vertical and are held in this position by chains 14. The latter allow the windshields to move upwardly if they strike an obstruction, and in the inoperative position the windshields are swung upwardly and secured parallel to each other. Overlapping triangular end shields 16, 17 hinged at 19 are provided, and flexible curtains 20, which may be of rubber, depend from the lower edge of the shields so as to trail in the tops of the crops.
