Abstract

707,152. Lubricating. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES. May 22, 1951 [June 14, 1950], No. 11967/51. Class 12(3) [Also in Group XXVII] Small quantities of lubricant are supplied intermittently to rocking levers 5 of a I.C. engine by means of the cam shaft 4 which has a segmental cut 12, a duct 13 and a longitudinal groove 14. Oil is fed into the channel 1 for the main bearings, and a bore 2 leads to the cam shaft bearing 3. At each revolution of the shaft 4 a small quantity of oil is passed into the duct 6, the quantity being determined by the circumferential width of the groove 14 and the duration of the covering of the duct 6 by the said groove. Any inaccuracy in the drilling of the ducts 2 and 6 is compensated for by, respectively, the length and width of the segment 12 and the axial length of the groove 14.
