Class 40 (5) A wideband signal is transmitted over a pulse multiplex system by modulating a plurality of channels thereof with different frequency bands of the signal. These bands are as follows: nfr/2 to (n + l)fr/2, (n + l)fr/2 to (n + 2)fr/2 ... (m - 1)fr/2 to mfr/2 where n is zero or any positive integer, m is any positive integer at least two greater than n and fr is the channel recurrence frequency. For a signal extending from zero to fs, n is made zero and m the nearest integral multiple of fr/2 greater than fs.
