Class 136(1) [Also in Groups VII and XXV] A fastening device for attaching luggage to bicycles comprises a buckle 1 provided with pairs of slots 3, 4 and 5 and a hole 2 for attachment to a bolt on the machine frame and one or more rubber bands 6 which may be threaded through the slots 3, 4 and 5 as shown in Fig. 2, the bands being characterized by a reinforcement of cord fabric 9 vulcanized to the band inside the back fold. The bands may have rounded ends and the reinforcement may eX- tend from just short of the rounded end to a little beyond the back fold. The cords of the fabric may lie parallel to the band or two layers of cord fabric may be employed with the warp of one aligned with the weft of the other at 45 degrees to the edge of the band.
