Abstract

705,898. Seats. HILL & CO. (TOOLS) Ltd. Dec. 22, 1952 [Nov. 20, 1952], No 29363/52. Class 52(2) A portable foldable seat comprises a main leg 10 fixedly secured in a bracket comprising a front plate 11 and a cooperating rear plate, a flap or seat 15 hinged to the bracket by a pivot pin 14, a pair of subsidiary legs 24 pivoted to inclined end portions 23 of the plate 11 so that when folded these legs 24 will lie in the same plane on either side of the main leg 10 but when unfolded will diverge and form with the leg 10 a tripod support. The seat 15 is also connected to the plate 11 by a linkage and spring for dealing with any dead centre position. The subsidiary legs 24 are also linked to the underside of the seat by links 25 so that folding or unfolding of the seat 15 causes folding or unfolding of the legs 24. These legs are also interconnected by telescopic braces 27. A handle or grip 32 is also provided which also serves as a back rest for the seat. Non- slipping ferrules 33 are provided or, if desired, spikes may be provided.
