Class 141 A method of forming a garment pocket comprises folding a piece of material along a vertical line 16 to provide inner and outer layers with coinciding free edges, applying a binding strip 19 over the lower portions of the edges and leaving unattached portions to provide a pocket entrance 32, forming a diagonal edge at the top free corner of, the outer layer, forming a similar diagonal edge on a garment section 23 by folding thematerial inwardly in the region of an upper corner, inserting and stitching at 26 the diagonal pocket edge in the fold 25, and then sewing at 27 another garment section 24 to the first in overlapping relation with the side edge of the inner pocket layer 17 between them. Waistband sections 28, 29 may be provided to hold the upper parts of the pocket in position. A felling strip 21 may be applied 'to the inner pocket layer 17 below the cut away portion of the outer pocket layer. In a modification, the pocket entrance may be provided at a placket opening, a supporting strip attached to the inner pocket layer replacing the overlapping garment section, and an overall bib may replace the outer waistband section. The folded pocket edge may be straight in this case. In a further modification, the inner pocket layer and a two-ply facing strip are attached to one garment section only.
