Abstract

470,124. Pockets for garments. WHYMAN, Ltd., A., and WHYMAN, A. April 24, 1936, No. 11672. [Class 141] In a pocket for a garment for outerwear there is provided an outer piece of material, the marginal portions of which are turned inwardly to meet the edges of the inner piece or pieces of pocket material to which they are secured, so that the pocket seams are wholly on the inner side of the pocket. In the example described, the pocket proper is formed of two pieces of material 1 and 2, and a piece 3 of waterproof material of greater width and depth than the pieces 1 and 2 is turned in at the sides and bottom, the meeting edges of the three pieces being sewn together at 4. The upper edge of the piece 3 is sewn to the piece 2 at 10. The lower portions of the folded-over sides of the piece 3 and the end portions of the bottom folded-over portion of the latter are mitred and seamed together to form mitred corners. The pocket is sewn to the garment at 8 and 9, the usual slit 6 and flap 7 being provided.
