Abstract
705,046. Gas burner igniters. METALLWERKE GEB. SEPPELFRICKE GES. June 25, 1952 [June 28, 1951], No. 15950/52. Class 75 (3) A gas stove or similar gas burning apparatus provided with an electric spark ignition device lying within the range of a pilot-light gas jet has a magnetic armature attached to the stove for producing the high tension voltage actuated by means of a spring draw-bar or similar device. The ignition unit 1 is connected to a pipe 3a branching off a main gas pipe 3 through a regulator valve 4 and a spring biased valve 5b. The apparatus is operated by means of a draw-bar 10 loaded by means of a spring 9 and attached to a toothed bar 8 so that when the bar 10 is pulled outwardly against the spring 9 the spring biased valve 5b is opened, by a bracket 8a abutting a stop 8b, to allow gas to pass to the unit 1 and the magnet is rotated through a pinion 11a. When the bar 10 is released the spring 9 quickly returns the bars 8, 10 to their normal position, compression springs 7, 6 close the valve 5b and the pinion 11a rapidly rotates the magnet to create a spark across a gap 12 and thus ignite the gas issuing from the pilot unit 1. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 3 and 4 (not shown), the valve is arranged perpendicularly to the bar and is opened by an oblique surface on the bar. The movement of the magnet may be dependent on the movement of the valve plunger.
