Abstract
704,401. Pile-fabric looms. WILSON & LONGBOTTOM, Ltd. Sept. 1, 1952 [Aug. 30, 1951], No. 14835/51. Class 142(2) [Also in Group XXIV] In a loom for weaving pile fabrics the pile wire hopper is reciprocated by mechanism comprising an epicyclic driving arms A, the ratio of the gearing. shaft B carrying a sprocket wheel C at one end and an arm E, of the same length as the epicyclic driving arm, at the other. A chain D round the sprocket wheel passes round a fixed sprocket wheel C<SP>1</SP> coaxial with a shaft A<SP>1</SP> driving the arms A, the ratio of the gearing between the sprocket wheel being such that the free end of arm E is given a straight line motion. The free end of arm E carries two pulleys over which cords H, H' actuating the pile wire hopper pass. A mechanism for driving the epicyclic driving arm A at a variable angular velocity comprises an arm keyed on the shaft A<SP>1</SP> having a lever pivoted to it, one end of the lever having a roller bearing on a fixed cam, the other end bearing a pin engaging a slot in an arm fixed to a sleeve carrying the epicyclic driving arm.
