Abstract

703,143. Electromagnetic brakes. BAMAGMEGUIN AKT.-GES. Aug. 26, 1952, No. 21404/52. Class 103(1) In an electromagnetic brake of the type in which the operating coil 2 requires direct current and only alternating current is available, the dry rectifier 13, for conversion of the current, is arranged stationarily in a space within the casing 6 where it will be cooled by an air current created by the hollow rotating brake member 10. As shown the cooling air is sucked in through the cavity of a coil spring 5 and forced out througt openings 7 in the casing, but the air flow may be in the reverse direction. The brake shown has a movable armature 3 which is urged by the spring 5 to press brake mem ber 10 against plate 8 and is released by energization of the coil 2.
