Abstract

702,921. Discharging static electricity. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Feb. 19, 1952 [March 6, 1951], No. 5457/51. Class 35 An aircraft discharging brush is composed of a group of fine wires 3 secured in a flexible insulating tube 2 and connected to the aircraft body through a time-constant circuit consisting of capacity in parallel with, or, as shown, inductance in series with a discharge resistor 15. The wires, which are of stainless alloy or enamelled copper and are secured in a spreadout position by a cement 4, are bonded at their inner end to a metal sleeve 6 into which is secured an insulating coil former 7 carrying a series of inductance coils 9-14. These coils are connected in series between the sleeve 6 and the discharge resistor 15 which is connected at 16, 17 to a metal fixing clip 18 by which the device is connected to the aircraft body. The assembly is secured in a plastic moulding 19 which is provided with a further lug 21 for insulated attachment to the aircraft body.
