Abstract

Fabrics consisting of or containing wool are rendered less liable to shrink by treatment with an aqueous bath containing an ionogenic compound giving rise to cyanic (CNO)- ions, e.g. sodium cyanate, in such a manner that the treated fabric contains or carries substantially no free chemically uncombined cyanate, and then drying at an elevated temperature, e.g., 50 DEG -90 DEG C. Specifications 614,506 and 701,645, [both in Group IV(a)], are referred to.
