Abstract

701,529. Sensitized photographic material. CIBA Ltd. April 6, 1951 [April 6, 1950; March 20, 1951]. No. 8094/51. Class 98(2) A photographic record is produced by treating a substantially grainless water-absorbent layer or film with a clear acidic solution containing a complex iron. salt and a silver salt and developing the resulting light-sensitive material after exposure with an acid solution containing a silver salt and a photographic developing substance. In example 1, the hardened gelatin lenticulated layer of the double lenticular film of Specification 682,853, is impregnated with a sensitizing solution, filtered after standing, consisting of an aqueous solution of hexa-aceto-hydroxo-triferric acetate nitrate, silver nitrate, and a non-ionactive wetting agent (a condensation product of higher fatty alcohols and ethylene oxide). The exposed material is developed in an aqueous solution of silver nitrate, metol, tartaric acid, and the wetting agent, washed, and dried. In example 2,. the sensitizing solution may be an aqueous solution of (a) ferric ammonium oxalate, silver nitrate, and nitric acid; (b) potassium diglycollatoferrate silver nitrate, and glycollic acid; or (c) ferric ammonium citrate (green) and silver citrate. In example 3, the hardened gelatin side of a double lenticulated film is impregnated with a centrifuged aqueous solution of ferric ammonium citrate (brown), silver nitrate, citric acid, and a non-ionic wetting agent. In example 4, the yellow to yellowbrown borders to the black parts of the image are converted to grey to black by treatment with aqueous chloroplatinic acid. In example 5 the sensitizing solution consists of an aqueous solution of ferric ammonium citrate (brown), citric acid, 1- (2 : 5-disulphonphenyl)-3-methyl-4-(p-sulphobenzeneazo)-5-pyrazolone, and a non-ionic wetting agent, to which is added aqueous silver nitrate. In example 6, a surface-saponified cellulose acetatebutyrate film cylindrically lenticulated on the other side is sensitized with the solution of example 3, and is conditioned for “ to ¢ hour before development and after exposure at 20-22‹C and 90-95 per cent relative humidity. Specification 439,005 also is referred to.
