Abstract

The self-binding medium for a photographic sensitive material is composed of a cellulose ether with or without an additional filler. The medium may comprise a 20 per cent solution of benzyl cellulose in benzol and alcohol with blanc fixe, dextrin and dicresylin or a 7 per cent solution glycol cellulose in aqueous caustic soda with starch or china clay. The base may be lawn or Nainsook, leather, thin wood, &c. The material is dried by passing over steam chests or plates. Examples of self binding mixtures and sensitizing solutions are given in the Specification.
