Abstract

700,987. Lighting fittings. THORPE, Ltd., F. W., and THORPE, F. W. Nov. 12. 1951 [Nov. 10, 1950], No. 27488/50. Class 75 (4). In a fluorescent lighting installation a relatively long trunking 1 of inverted channel section is attached to the ceiling and is provided on its flanges 8 with longitudinal rails 9, and a support 15 of channel section supporting a trough reflector 13 and containing control gear 16 is provided on its flanges 17 with longitudinal hooks 18 arranged for threading between, and to engage, the rails 9 so that the support and the reflector can be slid to desired positions on the trunking. The rails are formed by the upturned edges of the flanges 8 and the hooks are formed by inverted portions of the flanges 17. The support and reflector are clamped in adjusted position along the trunking by a screw 19 screwed into one of the flanges 8 of the trunking and abutting the associated hook 18. The trunking is provided with internal shelves 4, 6 supporting electric supply, telephone and radio cables and with obliquely extending flanges 10 which are engaged by hooks on suspension brackets 2 secured to conduits 3. The trunking may be made of extruded aluminium or of drawn or fabricated sheet metal. The reflector is secured to the support by means of devices on the web of the support engaging with slots in the reflector. Several supports with their reflectors can be arranged on the same trunking and the trunking can be closed between adjacent reflectors by plates having sides formed as hooks to engage the rails 9.
