Class 83 (4) A weld head with at least two pairs of electrodes for effecting a series of spot welds has two electrode holders to which current is supplied and which are made in one piece with projections thereon serving as electrodes, the electrodes intermeshing between one another. In an embodiment two plate electrode holders 4a, 4b are secured by bolts 9a, 9b to the halves 1a, 1b of a transformer secondary separated by gap 2. Projections from the holder 4a form electrodes 5a, 6a and a projection from the holder 4b forms a double electrode 7b, 8b. The holder 4a is stepped to be spaced from the half 1b and the holder 4b is stepped to be spaced from the half 1a. Insulating plates 12 may be arranged so that the electrodes project therefrom. A wire 14 of a grid is welded to four wires 13 in one operation, punches being employed beneath the wires during welding. In modifications six single electrodes are arranged with alternating polarities or six electrodes may be arranged in two double and two single electrodes, on two holders which may be exchanged with those shown in Figs. 1 and 3.
