Abstract
700,548. Driving sound film, tape or wire. LOEWE OPTA AKT.-GES. April 1, 1952, No. 8269/52. Class 40 (2). In a driving mechanism for magnetic wire or tape providing a different resistance to rotation of the wind-off reel at normal and at higher, or rewind, speeds, a carrier 5 carrying the reel 3 is, for normal wind-off speed, in frictional contact with larger disc 10 through friction ring 8 carried by plate 7. It may also remain in contact with smaller disc 11 through friction ring 9 also carried by plate 7. At the higher speed ring 8 is disengaged and ring 9 alone engages the smaller disc 11. Ring 8 is disengaged by operating lever 18 so as to raise intermediate disc 14 on which disc 11 is supported. When reel 3 is the driven reel, either for normal or for high-speed operation, disc 10 and plate 7 remain in full frictional contact. Rings 8 and 9 may be felt or rubber and may each be of different material.
