Abstract

700,454. Television. MURPHY RADIO, Ltd., and FAIRHURST, H. A. Oct. 28, 1949 [Oct. 29, 1948], No. 28140/48. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group XL(c)] A saw tooth current generator comprising a valve 8, Fig. 6, transformer 9, 10, 13 and resistor 11, (see Group XL (c)), is included in a circuit with the audio output valve 20 in a television receiver. The focusing coils for the receiver are connected in series with the anode circuit of the output valve by the vertical leads shown and focus is maintained with changes in H.T. voltage by applying a voltage obtained from resistors 33, 34 in the screen grid circuit of valve 8 to the control grid of valve 20. Resistors 33, 34 may alternatively be connected across a current dependent resistor connected between resistor 11 and earth. In an alternative circuit, Fig. 5, the output valve 20 and the focusing coil which is connected across resistors 29 and 11 are in series with the screen grid of valve 8. Resistor 29 which may alternatively be connected as shown in dotted lines is in series with the coil and adjusts the focusing current while potentiometer 11 adjusts the frequency of the saw tooth generator. Capacitor 32 frees the focusing coil from the alternating component of the screen grid current. Specifications 643,993 and 700,453, [both in Group XL (c)], are referred to.
