[Also in Group X] A collapsible lazy tongs linkage which forms the framework of a folding door comprises an upper, an intermediate, and a lower row of full length interlaced hinge plates each of which is pivoted centrally and at both ends by pintle pins 32-45 to associated plates, Fig. 2, the plates 32'- 45<SP>1</SP> being secured, e.g. by welding, to the corresponding pintle pins so that the lower and intermediate plates are moved in accordance with the top series of plates, except for the slight twisting of the pintles due to strain, to ensure that the framework moves laterally in an upright position. Some of the full length hinge plates are welded at their centres to the midplate hinges as at 29, Fig. 1. A lead post 15 carries Z-shaped brackets 24 for the half length hinges at the end of each row of hinges and has a cushion strip 16 for engaging a bumper strip 17 carried by the vertical part 18 of the door opening in a wall 10. Half length hinges at the fixed end of the door framework are supported by brackets 47 attached to a rear post 20, the latter being secured, e.g. by screws 21, to the post 22 of the door opening. A covering material 50 is attached to the top and bottom series of plates by means of tapes 51 which are stitched to the fabric of the covering and fastened to each of the plates by fasteners 53. The door is suspended by a trolley 13, which supports the lead post 15, and one, or more, trolleys 14 each connected to a pintle, the trolleys travelling along a slotted track 12 extending across the doorway.
