Abstract

A frame for the attachment of various seed sowing devices is adapted to be connected to the power lifting links on a tractor. As shown a transverse tool bar 34 has brackets 38 attached thereto for connection to the lower draft links on the tractor and a standard 35 for connection to an upper control link on the tractor. Two bars 39 are fixed to the bar 34 and extend rearwardly and downwardly and each has fixed thereto two plates 88 to which are attached seeders 42. Press wheel frames 64 are pivoted to the plates 88 and each has fixed thereto a press wheel 63 comprising two wheels which are transversely adjustable to suit varying conditions and are urged into the ground by springs 67. Alternative furrow opening and closing devices are fixed to the plates 88. As shown a runner 90 has a seed tube 44 attached thereto. Ridging ploughs 89 may be fitted in addition to the runners and a flat plate may be fitted to the base of the runner for shallow sowing. Covering discs 101 are provided and alternatively scraper blades may be used while for shallow sowing no coverers are provided. The seeders 42 are driven by a shaft 49 driven by a belt drive 52 from a land wheel 103 mounted in a pivoted frame 105 which projects forwardly. Alternatively the shaft 49 may be driven from a drive sprocket on the tractor, a clutch being provided for automatically disconnecting the drive when the tractor is backed or when the implement is lifted into transport position.
