700,062. Knife handles. SANDERS & BOWERS, Ltd. March 13, 1952 No. 6578/52. Class 61 The flat tang 3 of a knife is recessed along one side, the recess having end edges 6, 7 which are substantially square with the longitudinal inner edge 5. One or both the edges 6, 7 are slightly undercut, the edge 7 shown being struck as a curve. A one-piece plastic handle 10 is secured to the tang by hot pressing, the handle being slotted longitudinally to receive the part 2 of the tang and transversely to receive the hook shaped end 9. The heat required for pressing is provided by heating the tang prior to insertion in the slot. The tang is transversely tapered towards the outer edge to produce a keying effect. The edge 14 of the handle is slightly waved to facilitate a hand grip. In a modification the handle extends over the blade and is provided with a second transverse slot.
