Class 18 A casing for an electric shaver comprises a bowlshaped body 23, having a domed cover 34 hinged to the body by a pair of spaced tabs 37 on the cover projecting through slots 39 in the body, the tabs being curved to bear about beaded edges 41 of the slots to enable the cover to pivot open and closed. A plate 51 having curved portions 47 which bear on the outer side of the tabs 37 retains the hinge connection between the cover and body and is secured in position by a screw 54 after the tabs 37 have been engaged with the beaded edges 41. Grooves 48 are cut in the tabs 37 in which projections 46 from the portions 47 engage to limit the opening movement of the cover. The casing may be made of a synthetic resinous or other suitable material and is provided with a projection 56 on the edge of the cover opposite the tabs 37, the pliability of the material enables the cover to be distorted to enable the projection to be engaged or disengaged in a recess 58 in the body in closing or opening the cover. The outer wall. of the body 23 extends below the central bowl portion 31 so as to accommodate a reel 61 on which the electric cord 20 for the shaver is wound and in which recesses 67, 68 are formed for receiving the plugs 21, 22. The reel is retained within the body 23 by a finger operated spring urged plate 72 mounted in a central portion of the reel and apertured so as to engage a spigot 71 projecting from beneath the bowl portion 31. The spigot 71 is recessed at 69 so as to receive the plate 72 and thereby, retain the reel in position.
