Abstract

699,525. Grates. CARRON CO., and McLELLAN, H. May 19, 1952 [May 21, 1951], No. 11779/51. Class 126 A fire grate comprises fire bars individually and removably mounted in a frame, and means for shaking the fire bars in their mounting comprising a rocking bar extending below one side of the frame and a manually operable crank at the same side of the frame and engageable with the rocking bar. The fire bars 1 are removably mounted in a frame 2, and each fire bar has a tongue 10 extending beyond and beneath the mounting and engaging an open slot in the underside of the rocking bar 3. The rocking bar 3 is held to the underside of the frame 2 at one point by a screw 4 passing through a slot in the bar. A pin 8 on a crank arm 6 engages an open-ended slot 9 at the underside of the bar 3. The crank arm 6 is provided with a slotted handle, Fig. 2, (not shown), which is engageable by an operating handle. A gas burner 13 is provided and the end of the bar 3 is cut away so that the bar does not strike the burner. The rocking bar 3 is suspended by the tongues 10, but the screw 4 enables one or more fire bars 1, to be removed without affecting the suspension of the bar.
