Abstract

699,388. Seats. AUSTIN MOTOR CO.. Ltd. Oct. 10, 1952 [Oct. 12, 1951], No. 23756/51. Class 52(ii) A vehicle seat is mounted at the rear for sliding on a fixed support and at the front on struts which are pivoted to the seat and to the fixed support, one, at least, of the struts having a latch arrangement for locking the seat in its adjusted position which at all times permits the seat to be tilted on the struts. As shown the seat 12 is mounted at the rear for sliding on a transverse tube 10 fixed to the vehicle floor, while the front of the seat is pivoted to struts 13 forming the upstanding legs of a U-shaped tubular member the base part 15 of which is pivotally mounted on the floor. A U-shaped member 20 is pivoted on brackets 19 secured to the tube 10 and carries at least one notched.plate 23 for selective engagement with a pin 26 on the struts 13, the part 28 of the member 20 being disposed beneath the front of the seat and serves as a handle. The seat may at all times be pivoted forwardly about the pivots 18.
