Abstract

1445820 Sliding seats with forwardly foldable backrests BRITISH LEYLAND UK Ltd 3 March 1975 [2 March 1974] 9516/74 Heading A4J Each side of the backrest of a slidably mounted vehicle seat is connected to a fixed bracket 5 through a rod 12 on the backrest engaging a slot 7 in the bracket, the position of the rod along the slot being adjustable to allow fore and aft positioning of the seat and the rod being locked in the adjusted position to allow forward sliding of the seat as the backrest is folded forwardly. A tooth 21 provided on a detent lever 20 pivoted on the rod engages one of a number of apertures 9 provided in the bracket 5 to hold the rod in position. Engagement of a latch 17 on the backrest with the seat frame holds the backrest in the unfolded position. A pin and slot connection 13, 14 between the backrest and the seat allows forward sliding of the seat as the backrest is folded forwardly.
