699,076. Cigarettes; cigarette-making machines. MOLINS, D. W., HACKING, F. W., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. March 14, 1951 [March 17, 1950], No. 6751/50. Class 130. Patches 2 of coloured adhesive are applied to the interior surface of the paper web 1 of a continuous-rod machine for mouthpiece cigarettes adjacent those of the ultimate cut-off positions 3 corresponding to the points of bisection of double-length stubs in the final cigarette rod, the. adhesive serving both to secure the stubs and the tobacco adjacent thereto to the paper and to mask tobacco shorts lying between the stub and paper. The adhesive patches may be patterned or mottled. As shown, the paper is kept free of adhesive at the overlap and at the actual point of stub bisection, but this need not be so, and in Fig. 1 (not shown) a single patch of adhesive is symmetrically disposed about each point of stub bisection.
