Abstract

699,056. Band saws. ORESCAN, M. Oct. 17, 1951, No. 24174/51. Class 145 (ii). A band saw of the type having an upright hollow frame with a front gap, a tiltable table, and an endless flexible band saw, with means for driving and adjusting the band saw is formed with a downwardly inclined portion just below the front of the gap to support the saw table in its extreme tilted position and has a sawdust blower. The frame of the machine is hollow and encloses the saw and saw supports. The work table comprises a front section 28 and a rear section 30 hinged thereto. The front section is pivoted to the frame and is lockable in any adjusted position. The lock bar 50 can be released when the table is tilted to allow the sections to hinge as shown in the broken lines. The saw 56 is carried by rollers 58, 62, the former being secured to a plate 60 which is adjustable by bolt 92 to tension the saw, and is levelled in its adjusted position by the nuts 74. Rollers 58, 62 may be rubber tyred and the lower set are driven by the belts 120. The saw is supported by a roller 106 and a guard 142 is provided. The fan 136 sucks the saw dust from the vicinity of the blade and it is collected in a receiver (not shown). In a modification the rollers 62 are replaced by gears which drive an endless belt on which the saw blade bears. Specification 652,713 is referred to.
