Abstract
699,012. Lathe details. C. M. TOOLS (RADCLIFFE), Ltd. Nov. 20, 1950 [Nov. 19, 1949], No. 29652/49. Class 83 (iii). A roller tool-box of the kind in which a cutting tool is supported at the end of a pivoted arm has the pivot mounting constructed to allow sliding as well as arcuate movement of the arm in combination with constraining means at a point on the arm so that this point moves in an arcuate path, the cutting edge of the tool, by this arrangement, following substantially a straight-line path. The body a of the tool-box is provided with a pair of adjustable roller work steadies b, c. The cutting tool r is carried on a platform f at the end of an arm e. The upper end of the arm is slotted and slides over a block h pivoted to the body at d. Intermediate the ends of the arm and in line with the axis of the slot g a bearing hole is provided for one part of an eccentric i, the other part j of which is carried in the body. A recess k is provided in the lower part of the body opposite the tool in which slides the head g of a stylus member which projects through a sleeve n and has a pointed end p for engaging a template for copying. The head q engages a pin m secured to the tool-holder to control the movement of the latter. A boss n on the extension a<SP>1</SP> of the body a carries a micrometeradjusting sleeve o, n<SP>1</SP> for adjusting the tool.
