698,433. Making ice cream sandwiches. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. Jan. 29, 1952 [Jan. 30, 1951], No. 2293/51. Class 28 (i). [Also in Group II] Ice cream sandwiches are made and passed to a wrapping machine by dropping the lowermost of a stack of wafers 16 into each pocket 14 conveyed e.g. by a chain conveyer 11 under a support station where cutters 43 cut off a piece from an ice cream block 41 to drop on the wafer, and further conveying under a second wafer magazine 48 to receive a top wafer. The sandwich then pases to one of the pockets 51 of a rotary device 49 which delivers it to known wrapping mechanism. Wafer delivery.-The wafers in the magazine 16 temporarily rest on a support 38. A side presser 27, actuated by a cam 31 in timed relation to the step by step conveyer chain, presses the stack of wafers except the bottom wafer frictionally against the side of the magazine 16 after which the magazine and presser is reciprocated up by cam 26 leaving the bottom wafer on the support 38. A reciprocated pusher 39 pushes the bottom wafer sideways to drop through a slot 37 into the pocket 14.
