Abstract
697,588. Strap fastenings. POWE, G. H. Jan. 4, 1952, No. 387/52. Class 44 In an adjustable fastening of the kind comprising a runner element slidable along a runway having a series of closely spaced detent members with or between which the runner can be engaged, the dog member of the latter engaging the detents is a lever pivoted to the body of the runner and movable through approximately 180 degrees to two alternative positions, in one of which a tooth'on the lever engages between two adjacent bar-like. projections on the runway, and in the other of which the tooth is clear of the runway. The runner 1 has down-turned side wings 2, 3, and up-turned sides 11, 12, between which is pivoted the dog member 23, the short arm 20 of which is adapted to engage the track 16 which carries the detents 15 in the form of wire staples, clamped on to folds of a fabric strip. The long arm of the member 23 is adapted to be grasped to adjust the position of the runner, which is attached to a strap 9, preferably elastically extensible secured to one part of a garment or other article, while the track 16 is attached to another part.
