Abstract

697,374. Seats; furniture frames. JAMESB. Jan. 9, 1952, No. 637/52. Class 52(ii) The frame of an armchair comprises six separate sections interconnected chiefly by 'T-shaped tongues and grooves, the sections being the seat, two main arms, two tops for the arms and the back. As shown the seat Fig. 1, comprises a rectangular frame upon the side rails A, B of which are mounted T-shaped tongued rails D arranged in spaced and inclined relation to the side rails A, B. The main arm sections, Fig. 3, comprise front and rear plates F, G, a T- shaped grooved top rail M, a similar lower rail H with its T-shaped groove disposed sideways for engagement with the rail D of the seat and an inclined rear rail J also having a T-shaped groove with which the side rail S of the back section interengages. The top section, Fig. 5, of the arm rests comprises a plate P having a T-shaped tongue Q to engage the grooved rail M and an aperture R to permit the tongued rail S of the back section to pass into the rail J. The back section, Fig. 6, besides the rails S is provided with a lower tongued rail T to engage the grooved rail E of the seat to which it may be secured by three pegs. The back section is also provided with wing portions W.
