Abstract

697,191. Radio receiving apparatus. CINCH MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. April 12, 1951 [Sept. 15, 1950], No. 8583/51. Class 40 (v). A valve shield comprises a tubular member 8, Fig. 1, with one end open to receive the valve and has a resilient spring member 18 therein having two ring portions 16, 17, one 16 of which engages the shield and the other 17 of which engages the valve to hold it in non- rattling relation. As shown, the resilient member is a cylinder with intersecting longitudinal and transverse slits. Spring portions 16, 17 are preferably of non-circular section so as to engage the walls of the can at a plurality of points, Figs. 2, 3, 4 (not shown). The valve is carried in a holder 1 secured to plate 2 by multi-eared mounting member 3 (ears not shown in Fig. 1). The screening can 8 has a flange 11 co-operating with flange members 12 on member 3, the can being rotated into engagement with members 12. In assembly, the valve is inserted into the base end of the can 8 until it is gripped by the spring member and the shield is then rotated to grip members 12, a retaining flange 9 preventing the spring member from moving outside the can. The device may be part of a radio or television installation in automobiles or aircraft.
