Classes 120(ii) and 120(iii) A device for producing fluffy yarns comprises means for winding effect yarns around two parallel core yarns or groups of yarns, arrangements for gripping the effect yarns between the core yarns and additional holding yarns, means for severing the effect yarns between the parallel core yarns and means for twisting the core and holding yarns with the severed effect yarns, held between them. Core yarns or groups of yarns 1, 2 are drawn over a tension member 3 and passed through a tube 4 from which they emerge on either side of a tongue 5, where coils of yarns 26 from cops 22 rotated about the tube are wound around the tongue 5 and yarns 1, 2. From the tongue 5, the combined yarns pass over a double-grooved roller 7 to a roller 9 having side grooves for the parallel core yarns 1, 2 and a centrally located groove with which a circular knife 29 co-operates. Before the knife 29 cuts the coils of yarns 26, two binding yarns 27. 27' enter the side grooves of the roller 9 to hold the yarns 26 against the core yarns 1, 2. After cutting the coils of yarns 26, the' two separated groups of yarns are twisted by fivers 15, 15<SP>I</SP>, the short lengths of yarns 26 being bound by twist between yarns 1, 27 and 2, 27<SP>1</SP>.
