696,442. Change-speed gear. CHRYSLER CORPORATION. Feb. 5, 1948 [Oct. 9, 1940], No. 1922/51. Drawings to Specification. Class 80 (ii). The subject-matter is the same as that of Specification 696,411 but the claims are directed to the use of countershaft and planetary gear units in series, each providing two speed ratios under speed-responsive control, but subject to the permissive action of the engine acceleratorpedal, by manipulation of which the driver may effect upshift from the overall lowest to the overall highest ratio alternatively through either of the two intermediate ratios. Specifications 696,443 and 696,444 also are referred to.
