Class 52(i) [Also in Group XXV] A locking device comprises a screw-threaded spindle having an expansible reduced portion at its outer end, a locknut having a chamber within which the reduced portion lies when the parts are screwed together, the reduced portion being expanded to prevent complete separation of the parts but allowing limited unscrewing, and a cover closing the chamber. As shown, in a knob for clamping the hinged ends of a perambulator canopy, a screw-threaded part 2 of a spindle 1 has an axially bored tip 3 over which a washer 7 is dropped when the spindle is screwed through a locknut 4 into a chamber 6. The tip 3 is then burst over, the chamber closed by a cover 8, and the knob polished or plated.
