Abstract

695,872. Vehicle floors. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 23, 1951 [May 23, 1950], No. 12876/50. Class 108 (i). The metal floor of a lorry comprises a floor member 1, and an integral side-rail 2, Fig. 1, having an upright 3 forming an upstanding edge for the floor. The outer upright 5 extends down the side of and may be turned under the crossbearer 6, and is provided with a flange 10 as shown. The corner of the metal section is recessed at 9 to interlock with an adjacent metal or wood floor member 18. In a modification the side-rail is only slightly stepped above the integral floor member and is dovetailed at its end to mate with an adjacent floor member. The floor member may have ribs or serrations, and the section may be used in co-operation with the metal floor described in Specification 662,763 which is referred to.
