695,871. Artificial leg joints..HANGER & CO., Ltd., J. E., and BROWN, P. May 1, 1951 [May 10, 1950], No. 11704/50. Class 81 (ii). A joint for an artificial leg comprises a female member 1 and a male member 2 which is formed with recesses 8, 9 to receive two bearing inserts 15 one of which co-operates with a further bearing insert arranged in a recess 6 in the female member to support a first set of ball bearings 16 while the other cooperates with another bearing insert in a member 5 screwed into the female member to support a second set of ball bearings 16. The head 10 of a member 5 is provided with two drillings 13, 14 for tightening purposes the member being locked in position by means of a nut 17 and washer 18.
