Abstract

A painting shield is formed from rigid material having rounded p corners between which it is chamfered to provide a sharpened straight edge to abut against a surface to be painted and being curved parallel with the sharpened straight edge at positions intermediate this edge and the opposing edge whereby when the shield is placed against a surface adjoining that to <PICT:0695572/III/1> <PICT:0695572/III/2> be painted said surface is engaged only by the sharpened straight edge and a portion of the shield intermediate the sharpened straight edge and the edge opposite thereto and the chamfer forms an acute angle with the surface to be painted so that between the chamfer and the work there is formed a pocket which fills with paint and as the shield moves along the work a trail of paint is drawn continuous with that applied to the work. Referring to the drawings, the shield has rounded corners 1 between which extends the straight edge 2, the pocket being formed between the chamfer 2a and the surface to be painted.
